My name is Anna Parkhomenko. You can also call me Anya (I prefer that).
I am a graphic and UX designer based in Toronto. I’ve been studying graphic design for three years and working freelance for two. But that’s not the interesting part.
The interesting part is that I am an explorer at heart. Whether it is travelling across real borders – moving across the world to Canada or visiting 32 countries in 21 years – or jumping between career paths, I do it all. At different points of my life, I wanted to be a stand-up comedian, a coffee shop owner and a nuclear physisist. I have an endless sense of curousity, I want to know everything, and I think being interesting is the best quality a person can have.
I am a human oxymoron: equally passionate and precise. I throw myself into my projects with all my heart, but I always back up my creativity with numbers and analysis. I love the structure of data arrays in Python just as much as the chaotic texture of marker fonts and watercolor paintings. I read Wikipedia articles for fun. I collect coffee cups, postcards and stamps in my passport. I can make a mean cup of latte and write a computer game.
I am a knight in an RPG, collecting side quests and somehow still progressing the main story. Design is where it all comes together. Humour, creativity, curiosity – with a touch of logic. And more than a touch of chaos. That’s how I explore
the world.
