Overview
Goal
Design a new issue of the JRNY travel magazine, dissecting and following the established design system of the magazine while highlighting new previously not featured locations.
Challenge
Balancing my own vision with the magazine's design system; elevating and improving the areas lacking in the magazine; art directing the issue, perfecting the photography and type treatment and building a cohesive issue with all the elements.
Strategy
Clean sans serif type, serif highlights.
Following a strict grid system and breaking the layout for emphasis.
Documentary-style photos, more photos than text.
Bold colourful layouts.
Target Audience
Travel lovers and adventurers
Younger audience, 25-35 y.o.
Middle to high income
Professions allowing travel and leisure time
People wanting to experience the world vicariously

Created a 32-page issue of the JRNY magazine – a Balkans special issue highlighting 3 locations in 3 articles: Plitvice Lakes and Rijeka in Croatia, and Durmitor in Montenegro, among with the cover, the editor's letter, the table of contents and an advertisement.
